Baton Twirling Pairs

For Stephanie Hart and Casey (Berry) Napper, earning the right to represent Canada at the 2000 World Baton Twirling Championships in Holland was a dream come true. Entering their first world stage experience, the pair and their coach, Brenda Bennett made a realistic goal to place in the top 5. Much to everyone's surprise the duo brought home the Silver medal in Junior Pairs.

Introduced to baton at age 4 and coached by Brenda Bennett, Hart and Napper went on to win a number of national titles individually, as a pair and with the Optimist Twirling Connection team.

Their international success started in 2000 in the Netherlands, and continued for the next several years. The pair earned a 4th place in France in 2001, 5th place in Japan in 2004, and a Bronze medal in 2005 in Minneapolis. Individually Casey competed at the World level in France in 2001, Spain 2003, Japan 2004, Minneapolis 2005, and Italy 2006. Stephanie competed in Saskatoon in 2002, Spain in 2003 earning a 5th place finish in Junior Women, Japan 2004, and Minneapolis in 2005 placing 7th. As team members, they competed with the Optimist Twirling Connection team in Japan in 2004 placing 5th and in Minneapolis in 2005 winning a Bronze medal.

Napper continues in the sport as a coach in Saskatoon with the Optimist Twirling Connection alongside her own coach and mentor, Brenda Bennett. Hart, who is now based in Vancouver, has coached baton and dance for the Batons West in Abbotsford.
