The University of Saskatchewan Huskies loved home cookin' in 1998.
The Huskies went 4-0 at home in Griffiths Stadium in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs to advance to the Vanier Cup in Toronto for the Canadian university football championship.
A touchdown by linebacker Trevor Ludtke made the difference in the final. Ludtke recovered a fumble in the end zone in the fourth quarter as the Huskies defeated the Concordia Stingers 24-17 for the title.
Kurtis Albers had three interceptions for the Huskies and Matt Kellett kicked three field goals. Running back Doug Rozon rushed for 140 yards. Kellett, offensive lineman Scott Flory, linebacker Warren Muzika and defensive lineman James Repesse were named All-Canadians.
