Kinsmen Club of SaskatoonThe Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon was chartered in 1929 and is celebrating its 77th anniversary. Its members are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the community by promoting service, fellowship and positive values.

Their contributions to Saskatoon sports have been immeasurable, dating back to one of their first ventures, the Kinsmen PeeWee Hockey League, which was active every Friday night in winter months at the downtown Arena.

They have supported the Kinsmen Tackle Football League, for peewees and bantams, for 40 years. They organize the Inner City Hockey League, mostly for boys from eight to 12 years of age and now in its 10th season.

They have recently launched an Inner City Flag Football League. They assist indoor track and field, golf, Special Olympics and have worked with baseball, swimming and rowing programs.

The Kinsmen were principal partners in the launching of Kinsmen Park for softball, the Kinsmen Arena for hockey and indoor track and field, two soccer centres, and a fishing platform at the weir.

Through the staging of the Kinsmen annual Sports Celebrity Dinner, now in its 47th year, they made contributions to the history of Saskatoon sports by choosing a Sportsman of the Year every year since 1961 and an Athlete of the Year every year since 1968. Through dinner proceeds, they began awarding sports scholarships to graduating Grade 12 students in 1984 and now choose two winners a year.
