Curl Saskatoon
Organization (2017)
Curling
Curl Saskatoon is the best in the house.
Starting in 1990, the six clubs in Saskatoon -- the CN, Granite, Hub, Nutana, Prairieland Exhibition and Sutherland -- had representatives from each club working together to promote the sport.
Curl Saskatoon has arranged playdowns and local bonspiels and been the host to the Brier three times, the Canadian mixed doubles championship twice, the Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian senior championship and the Canadian Masters Championship.
Curl Saskatoon developed a junior league in Saskatoon to encourage youth curling with learn-to programs and league play. It arranges for buses for students in Grades 6 to 8 to go curling and provides instructors. By participating in Kid Sport and Care and Share, Curl Saskatoon delivers the sport to inner city schools.
The Ken Rowley Award started by Curl Saskatoon honors individual contributions.
Twenty-seven rinks, six athletes and six builders from curling are enshrined in the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame.
