On behalf of the 1989 Jeux Canada Games Foundation the Board of Directors are very honoured to have the Foundation recognized into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame. This recognition comes as a result of 8500 volunteers who helped stage the best every Canada Summer Games as measured by any criteria. Among the many legacies such as major additions to Harry Bailey aquatic centre, softball and baseball diamonds, tennis, new boat house, soccer fields there were also other substantial community gains such as promenade in Kiwanis Park, clock tower, tribute to youth sculpture and a massive portable stage. The most significant legacy came from establishing the 1989 Jeux Canada Games Foundation. This was made possible from a profit generated by the Games of $1.3 million. This foundation has been governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with a mandate to improve and advance amateur sport in Saskatchewan regardless if their sport was directly involved in the Games or not.

Today the assets exceed $1 million, however worthy to note since the foundation was established in 1989 an excess of $3 million was distributed to 252 amateur sport organizations in Saskatchewan.

Some organizations which received funding would include The Shaw Center, Merlis Belcher Ice Arena, Gordie Howe Sports Complex, Alpine Saskatchewan Association, Coaches Association of Saskatchewan, Humboldt Calico Gymnastics Club. LaLoche Friendship Centre, Marian Gymnastics Club, Regina Optimist Dolphins, Regina Rowing, Saskatchewan Athletics, Saskatchewan Baseball Association, Saskatchewan Fencing Association, Saskatchewan Table Tennis Association, Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club. Saskatoon Rowing Club, Saski-Skiing for the disabled, Y.W.C.A, Sports Council and many more.
