It's game day. Where's Johnny?
At football, he drives the Gator utility vehicle, taking equipment here and doing a sideline job over there.
He is courtside at basketball, getting a scorekeeper this and giving a coach on the bench that.
He marshals the soccer pitch. He racks up big miles at the cross-country meet.
Every day is game day for Johnny Marciniuk.
He has been a consultant and co-ordinator with elementary school and high school sports for more than 30 years, from volleyball and wrestling, to badminton and cheerleading. That's but a slice of the story.
He has been a track and field official at the K of C Games and in the Sled Dog meet and for the Aboriginal Indoor Games. He is a man in motion with the Hilltops, the Valkyries and the Kinsmen Football League.
Johnny Marciniuk's latest work is lasting. He is one of the founding members of the Friends of the Bowl Foundation. What started in 2014 with a new and improved football field and clubhouse at the south end of Saskatoon has exploded into a sports bounty. A new oval for track and field and speed skating, a new diamond for baseball and a multi-sport centre are soon to follow.
