Soccer
Love for soccer started in Wales, UK before coming to Canada. Born in Swansea, South Wales, Huw played as a schoolboy and further progressed into the Welsh league.
He moved to Saskatoon in1976, with his wife (Angela). While playing for Saskatoon United at the Premier Level, his daughters (Adele, Karla) were born.
As a builder, he was deeply involved in starting Hollandia along with the restructuring of Saskatoon United Soccer Club. He has been involved with Saskatoon Youth Soccer as well as Saskatchewan soccer delivering player and coach education programs as a Canadian Soccer Master Learning Facilitator.
As a coach and player, he has had the pleasure of coaching and playing on many Saskatoon club teams at National Championships along with Canada and Western Canada Summer Games for both Saskatchewan and the North West Territories over the past 40 years.
He currently holds the position as Director of coaching and player development with Saskatoon United and also, the Technical Director of NWT which is helping to build a clearer pathway in the development of our players and coaches.
Huw is building greater skills with being involved with our new national REX development centre here in Saskatoon, in order to pass on to coaches and players alike as we in Saskatoon continue to build to greater heights at Academy and club levels.
He has been given Saskatchewan Soccer's Life Membership Award and the David Newsham volunteer award. He has received the Canadian Soccer's Award of Merit, in recognition for outstanding contribution to the sport of soccer in Canada at the local, Provincial and National levels.
