Gord Wintermute has hockey covered in Saskatchewan.
He was a ref, or assigned refs to do the games, at masters hockey tournaments from Battleford to Biggar and La Ronge to Lloydminster.
Wintermute was involved in officiating for almost 40 years. He served on the executive of the officials' association for minor hockey in Saskatoon. He helped to start the Old Timers Referee Association in the city in 1987. He worked minor. and senior aboriginal tournaments in the province.
In Western Canada, Wintermute was an official at events in Regina, Calgary and Edmonton.
He went on to be a director with the Canadian Adult Recreation Hockey Association, including being a ref at national tournaments in Vancouver and Victoria.
Wintermute has been an on-ice official at five World Cups for adult recreation hockey, starting in 1988 in Munich.
As an athlete, Wintemute played minor and senior hockey in Prince Albert from the 1940s to the 1960s, then rec hockey, curling and golf in Saskatoon.
