Murray Eddy played basketball against the Harlem Globetrotters. He had the starting assignment in a baseball pitching duel with Satchel Paige. Curling and golf, though, are his signature sports.
In the late 1950s and early '60s, Eddy was the first student to play four years on the senior basketball team at Bedford Road Collegiate. His stint against Paige and a touring all-star team from the U.S. was in an exhibition game in Saskatoon.
Eddy won a provincial juvenile baseball title with the Saskatoon Monarchs and a league title with the senior Yorkton Cardinals. He played baseball for much of the 1960s on the Saskatoon Commodores.
Eddy began curling and golfing at age 33.
He has won two provincial golf titles and represented Saskatchewan in the team event at national golfing championships nine times.
As a curler, Eddy's rink finished second at the Canadian senior championship in Toronto in 1997. He was named an all-star skip in the event.
