Jaime Cruickshank is world class. At age 12, she competed in the World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Australia where she finished sixth.
At 17, Cruickshank set a Canadian record in sprint hurdles at the World Youth Track and Field Championships in Quebec. That summer, she also competed at the Pan American Junior Championships in long jump. A year later, she was named captain of the national team and carried the Canadian flag in to the opening ceremony of the World Junior Track and Field Championships in Italy. Here she finished 12th in sprint hurdles.
At the 2004 Provincial High School Track and Field Championships, Cruickshank broke the sprint hurdle record which still stands today. Later that summer, she finished third at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships in heptathlon - even though she was competing in heptathlon for the first time and didn't score any points in one of its seven events.
Soon after, Cruickshank jumped into a bobsleigh for the first time. At 19, she competed in her first World Bobsleigh Championships - breaking another Canadian record. Training at the national centre in Calgary, Cruickshank was on the Canadian bobsleigh team for five years. Career highlights include placing 13th at the 2006 Olympics in Italy, winning World Cup medals, and breaking multiple world start records.
