Darcey Busse was born and raised in Moose Jaw and came to the University of Saskatchewan in 1979 where he became the most-decorated player in Huskie volleyball history.
He played on Canada West championship teams in 1980 and 1985. He was named Canada West first team all-star in all five seasons. He was named All-Canadian three times and was named CIAU player of the year in both 1984 and 1986. The Huskie team twice won silver medals and once won bronze medals at the nationals.
He was also a member of the Canadian national junior team in 1979 and 1980 and a member of the national senior team in 1982 and 1983. He also represented Canada, winning a silver medal, at the 1983 World Universiade.
After graduation, he coached high school sports in Outlook. He died at 46 on May 11, 2008.
