Saskatoon Track and Field Club
The establishment of the Saskatoon Track & Field Club dates back to 1948. In 1954 Bob Adams, who was a member of the club since its inception as both an athlete and a coach, took over much of the leader-ship of the club. Bob Adams for whom the Saskatoon High School Championships are named, was an Olympic athlete coach and official at various stages of his career in Athletics. He remained with the club for many years, and from time to time still pops in to see how we are doing
For 60 years, STFC has hosted a number of National and International meets including two hugely successful National Junior Championships in 2003 and 2004. Numerous club athletes have represented the Club nationally at various national championships, and many have been fortunate enough, through hard work and dedication, to represent Cana-da at all levels of International competition including the Olympic Games
Today, STFC is the largest track club in Saskatchewan and one of the largest in Canada with a membership exceeding 300. From the cradle to the grave STFC is committed to serving all of its members to be the best that they can be. In addition to normal club initiatives, STFC hosts an inner-city program each year designed for 72 children chosen from inner-city schools and they receive training, transportation to training, shoes and a meal after practice. From tiny tots aged 3 to master athletes in their late seventies STFC is proud to serve and provide first class coaching to all.
