Brian Clark

Brian Clark's ability as a coach at the Saskatchewan grassroots level has led him down some international trails.

Brian was born in Dinsmore, attended public school in Saskatoon, was a high school student at Nutana and majored in physical education at the University of Saskatchewan.

He taught track and field at Choiceland and Asquith, then in the Saskatoon Public School system and soon became involved as assistant coach with the Riversdale Track and Field Club. He served as head coach of the Riversdale club from 1969 until 1989.

Brian coached at the Western Canada Games in 1979, 1983 and 1987 and at the Canada Games four times - Newfoundland in 1977, at Thunder Bay in 1981, in New Brunswick in 1985 and then on home grounds in Saskatoon in 1989.

He was the Canadian junior coach of an 80-member in a series of meets in France and England in 1980. He was a coach of Canada's team in the Pan-American Junior Games in 1978 at Thunder Bay and 1980 at Sudbury. During 1980, he first saw Carl Lewis run against Ben Johnson, both as juniors.

Brian was chosen to coach the Canadian hurdlers at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
