CANADIAN SENIOR MEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONS
March 1968 was a time
to remember for Don Wilson’s curling team. Playing alongside Carson
Tufts, Ivan McMillan, and Rueben Lowe, Don’s Granite club reps went
through the Saskatchewan and Canadian senior men’s playdowns without a
loss. In Moose Jaw for the provincial final, Wilson won three games to
win the “A” side, then beat Tony Junker of the Regina Callie 7-2 to earn
the trip to Edmonton for the nationals.
The competition
started on March 25 and five days later, Wilson’s foursome had 10 wins
and no losses to win the championship and claim the Seagram Stone
Trophy. Along the play-off trail, Wilson’s foursome lost one game.
