Jennifer Falk contributed 45 years of
continuous service to women’s curling in Saskatoon, including 38
straight years of involvement with the women’s bonspiel.
Jennifer was born in Cabri and her first
trophy came in track and field when she was 13 years old. She played
softball for the Saskatoon Pats in 1942 and 1943 and for the Shasta
Spartans from 1944-1947.
She joined the Hub City Curling club in
1948, won trophies on the bonspiel circuit, was on the provincial Legion
champions four times and, in 1969, curled lead for Joyce McKee’s women’s
champions.
She joined the Holiday Park Golf Club in
1964, served on the constitution committee and held the treasurer’s
position for many years.
Jennifer was a member of the Hub City
Curling Club for all but one of her contributing years. She started the
bonspiel committee in 1955 as secretary-treasurer, learned the draw
business from Dr. George Beall and was assistant draw master and then
from 1990-1992, was draw master. She was also archivist for the women’s
bonspiel for 16 years.
She has
been the secretary of the Saskatchewan women’s association, a delegate
to the Canadian association, was chairperson of the ice and draw
committee at the Canadian women’s championships in 1972 and a volunteer
at the 1989 Brier and 1990 Scott Tournament of Hearts. |
